• An Amelia Island Green Fund?

At the 20 June 2017 City Commission meeting, the topic of establishing an Amelia Island Green Fund will be brought up as a Commissioner Comment Item. The fund was initiated as an option for the sale of the School District Citrona property. While the Commission feels there is no problem with the Citrona property development, there are various efforts for Land Conservation and Acquisition. Commissioner Kreger, a huge supporter of conservation, has slated the item. He has found that such a fund is consistent with the City Comprehensive Plan (CCP), specifically Objective 5, along with the potential to use Impact Funds for the purchase of land for Recreation and Conservation.

If you are in favor of conserving some of the beautiful open spaces on the island please make your voice heard. If you can’t attend the meeting, please write Mr. Kreger and all Commissioners, letting them know you are in favor of the fund and it’s use for conservation, and urging them to use a portion of Impact Fees for the same.
